The Citizen Ink Project is a t-shirt label that combines illustration, design, writing and merchandising. Its vision is to use creative means to engage people in issues and debates that may otherwise be seen as dull or impenetrable.
The stories within the label span a diverse mix of subjects: from nuclear arms to The Roman’s instruments of power, modern-day farming practices to what it meant to be a conscientious objector during the Vietnam war.
In developing the identity for the project, historic, social, cultural and political movements were studied together with the existing communication strategies of campaigning organisations and charities, and assessed alongside modern consumer brands that successfully engage audiences to find out if these worlds could cross-pollinate.
Smith Dawson are responsible of all aspects of the Citizen Ink Project, and are owners of the project.
